Dennis Aguiar, age 72, of Somerset, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Somerset Ridge Center in Somerset after a long extended illness.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel P. and Adeliene (Ferreira) Aguiar. He was the former husband of Joyce (Davol) Sokolski of Fall River. He leaves a son, Dennis Sokolski of N.C.; two daughters, Carol Klek & husband Steve and Cathy Bisbano & husband Ronald of Westport; one granddaughter, four nephews & one niece, all of Fall River. He also leaves his sister and care taker, Mrs. Vivian (Beaulieu) Fleck & husband Neil of Somerser.
Mr. Aguiar was an avid bingo player, & loved his cars. He worked for Princess House years ago and for many moving companies in Fall River.
His funeral will be private from the BOULE FUNERAL HOME, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA. After cremation, he will be buried at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.

Theresa M. Desmarais, age 51, passed away unexpectedly, Friday January 13, 2012 of Fall River at home. She was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene V. and Natalie A. (Domingos) Desmarais. Theresa worked as an Administrative Assistant with Steppingstone for the last 22 years.
She was a caring loving person, who enjoyed helping others and also loved cats. Survivors are aunts, uncles and friends and co workers of Stepping Stone.

Rita (Hetu) Gula, age 91, of Fall River, passed away January 31, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Gula, Jr.
Born in Quebec, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Graziella (Cyr) Hetu. She was employed as a sewing machine operator for the former Samesta Mfg. for many years. Mrs. Gula enjoyed reading and going out with friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Gula of Fall River; a sister-in-law, Adele Sherman of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Theresa Benoit and Diana Cole. Mrs. Gula’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 10:00AM in the BOULE FUNERAL HOME, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA. Interment will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Raymond E.Conroy, Sr. |
Raymond E. Conroy, Sr., age 91, of North Dartmouth, MA, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at The Oaks, New Bedford, MA. He was the husband of Rita L. (Paradis) Conroy.
Born in Fall River, Mr. Conroy was the son of the late John W. and Mary (McCrohan) Conroy. In 1947, he joined the Fall River Police Department as a provisional patrolman and 38 years later he retired as Chief of Police. During his career, he was promoted from Patrolman to Sargeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Deputy Chief. In 1981 he was promoted to Chief of Police, a position he held until his retirement in 1985. Throughout his long career, Chief Conroy received many awards and commendations, including the Medal of Valor for saving another officer’s life.
In addition to his long career on the Fall River Police Department, Mr. Conroy was a graduate of Stonehill College. He was also a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during World War II, where he earned the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific 1 Star and the American Area Ribbon.
Besides his wife of 67 years, he is survived by four children, Lt. David Conroy, Ret. Fall River Police Dept. and his wife Maria Connie of North Dartmouth, Bonita Conroy Coe and her husband L.T.C. Thomas J. Coe, Ret. USCG of Stafford, VA, Mark Conroy of North Dartmouth and Barbara Ann Conroy of North Dartmouth; a sister, Rosemarie Considine of Fall River; eleven grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a special godchild, Carl Conroy and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Raymond E. Conroy, Jr. and former Fall River Firefighter, Patrick Conroy and the brother of the late John W. and Thomas Conroy, Mary Morrissette and Virginia Turcotte. Mr. Conroy’s funeral will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 8:00AM from the BOULE FUNERAL HOME, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Holy Name Church, Hanover St., Fall River. James H. Barrett, Sr. |
James H. Barrett, Sr., age 86, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Bedford Village Nursing Home, New Bedford, MA. He was the husband of the late Lucille T. (Ledoux) Barrett.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Richard and Eva (Mercier) Barrett. Mr. Barrett was a combat veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps and then as Staff Sergeant in the Air Force reserves. He fought in the European Theater of Operations, participated in the Liberation of Paris and was stationed at Orly Field in Paris from 1944-1945. He was employed as a regional manager for Boston Mutual Insurance and also as a machinist before his retirement. Mr. Barrett supported the Fall River Scholarship Foundation and the We Love Children Foundation. He was a member of the Elks, the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 5 Sunset Hill from 1968-1971 and a licensed private pilot. He was an avid fan of word puzzles and the Jeopardy Game Show and very proud that he could solve the Rubiks Cube. He also loved to cook for his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Susan J. (Milton) Rebello of Fall River, Sheila (Stephen) Terceira of Fall River and Gail (Arthur) Desmarais of Somerset; two sons, Noel Barrett of New Bedford and James H. Barrett, Jr. (JoAnn White) of Fall River; two sisters, Joan Smith of Tiverton and Ann Gallant of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Todd “TJ” & Jaime Lynn Rebello, Barrett H. & Brent H. Jones, Amy L. Delgiacco, and Michael & Cory Bernardo. He was also the brother of the late John & Richard Barrett, Rita Delgrasso and Claire Lavoie.

Robert F. Thibeault, age 83, of Warwick, RI, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Steere House in Providence, RI. He was the husband of Santina R. (Aiello) Thibeault.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Hector and Jeannette (Servant) Thibeault. He was employed as the Assistant Produce Manager at Stop & Shop for many years. Mr. Thibeault was an avid ballroom dancer and enjoyed playing golf in his earlier years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Brian J. Thibeault & his wife Patricia of Swansea, Wayne R. Thibeault & his wife Mona of Dighton, and Donna M. Ganczarski & her husband Louis of Fall River; two step-children, Michael Gemma & his wife Janice of Warwick, RI and JoAnn Compagnone & her husband Pasquale of Bridgewater; a brother, Charles E. Thibeault of Peru, IN; a sister, Cecile Daniels of Fall River; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Donald Thibeault, Aline Guilmette and Lorraine Torres. Dolores (Perry) Costa, age 79, of Fall River, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late David R. Costa.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late John and Helen Perry. Mrs. Costa was employed as a sewing machine operator in the garment industry for many years and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was an avid bingo player and attended all of the Senior Centers in the city. She was a parishioner of the Parish of the Holy Trinity.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Costa & his wife Michelle of Johnston, RI and Ricky A. Costa & his wife Jennifer of Dartmouth; three daughters, Jean M. Costa of Fall River, Betty-Ann Mullins & husband James P. of Westport and Sherri L. Costa of Fall River; ten grandchildren, Nathan Costa, Jordan Durand, Tayla Costa, McKayla Costa, Allison Mullins, Zachary Mullins, Samuel Costa, Harrison Costa, Charlotte Costa & Thomas Costa, Jr.; one sister, Alice Costa and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late David Costa, Jr. and the sister of the late John & Joseph Perry and Mary Carreiro. Sister Irene Therese Brodeur, O.P.
|
Sister Irene Therese Brodeur, O.P., 92, of 3012 St. Dighton, died on January 20, 2012.
A graduate of St. Anne’s Hospital School of Nursing, she joined the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin in 1953. She received the religious formation in France and made profession on February 28, 1955.
Sister Irene Therese received a BA in Nursing at Boston College in 1959 and MS in Nursing from Boston University in 1965. In 1967 and 1968 she was asked to go to Colombia, South America as Nursing Administrator at San Juan Hospital in Bogota.
She was nursing supervisor at St. Anne’s Hospital from 1968 to 1975. She was the Treasurer of the Hospital Corporation from 1983 to 2000. She retired on April 1, 2000 and continued to work at the hospital as volunteer while being the Treasurer of the USA Province of the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation.
She retired to the Provincial House in March 2006.
Sister Irene Therese was the daughter of the late Amedee Brodeur and Leontine Parent. She leaves several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation in Dighton; burial at Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation will be in the chapel on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Robert “Red” B. Letourneau
|
Robert “Red” B. Letourneau, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford, MA, a day before celebrating his 90th birthday. He was the husband of Therese (Berger) Letourneau.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Alphonse and Regina A. (Morais) Letourneau. Mr. Letourneau played on a Red Sox Farm Club before his induction into the military. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he earned the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and Victory Medal. He was employed as the plant manager of a Jewelry Manufacturing Facility in Cranston, RI prior to becoming the proprietor of the former John’s Package Store, County Street, Fall River.
Besides his wife of 63 years, survivors include his son, Robert P. Letourneau and his wife Mary Anne and his two grandchildren, Benedict and John Letourneau all of LaCrosse, WI. He was the brother of the late Reginald Letourneau and Jeanne Mattera. Mr. Letourneau’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 9:00AM from the BOULE FUNERAL HOME, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Anne’s Church, South Main Street, Fall River. Normand J. Berube, age 81, of Swansea, MA, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Halco) Berube.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Romeo and Yvonne (Lavalle) Berube. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a supervisor for United Merchants & Manufacturers, Inc. for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Louis de France Church and he enjoyed watching sports and western movies.
Mr. Berube is survived by his three sons Edward J. Berube (wife Charlene) of Fall River, Normand M. Berube (wife Charlotte) of Taunton and Brian S. Berube of Swansea; as well as his two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Liston Kirkwood |
Robert Liston Kirkwood, (Cdr. USN, retired) of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at home after a long illness, surrounded by his family, at the age of 80. He was the son of the late Liston and Irene (Lapointe) Kirkwood. He is survived by his wife Barbara M. (Craigie) Kirkwood, of 59 years; sons, Eric Kirkwood and Robert Kirkwood; daughters Christine Rathier (husband Ronald), Nancy Baum (husband Kraig), Lisa Mladinich (husband Charles), Elizabeth Selden (husband Steven); eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Jeanne Lewis and Nancy Donndelinger. Born in Fall River in 1931, he served 30 years in the US Navy, achieving his boyhood dream of becoming a Navy fighter pilot. During the Vietnam War, he earned the Silver Star and became an intriguing footnote in history when he downed a Russian MIG 17 by firing only the guns mounted on his F-8 Crusader. He retired as a full Commander in 1978 after 6 years of teaching and writing texts for the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. For many years Robert enjoyed flying model airplanes, hang-gliding, handball, and camping in the state and national parks with his family. He was an avid reader, a devoted and accomplished sailor, and loved cruising up and down the East Coast with his wife and six children in their family sailboat. He and his wife fulfilled another of his lifelong dreams in 1980 when they made a solitary voyage under sail from Tiverton to Bermuda. He navigated the entire trip without the use of electronic devices, using only a sextant. Robert was a regular communicant at Saint Christopher's Catholic Church, Tiverton, where he served for 30 years as a religion teacher. During that same period he was a faithful member of Saint Christopher's Men's Guild and helped to cook and serve the parish’s popular Family Suppers. He also served on the board of Fidelity Forum with Dr. Fritz Wenisch.
Mr. Kirkwood’s Funeral will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 9:45AM from the Boulé Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. Christopher's Church, 1554 Main Rd., Tiverton, RI. Gerard J. Janson, age 85, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Dighton Nursing Center. He was the husband of Edna (Defoce) Janson.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph and Emma (Dolbec) Janson. Mr. Janson worked as a pasteurizer for H.P. Hood for over 32 years, and later worked for RE Smith Printing from where he retired. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Boehr Council, a member of Royal Travelers Club and a parishioner of St. Anne’s Church. He was a member of the East End Sportsman Club which he was President for 21 years, treasurer for 8 years and 5 years as a board member,
Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by two sons, Mark Janson (wife Cynthia), of Swansea and Gerard Janson, Jr. (wife Ann Marie) of Westport; three daughters, Rachel Janson of Fall River, Anne Rodrigues (husband Stephen) of Swansea and Geraldine Bouchard (husband William) of Swansea; two sisters, Jeanne Gagnon of Fall River, Annette Staffen of Texas; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Lorraine Medeiros and brother of the late Laurette Atkins and Theresa Dunnahoo.

Mariette T. (Robidoux) Castonguay, age 86, formerly of Bardsley St., Fall River, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 surrounded by her loving family, at Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Normand A. Castonguay.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice (Mann) Robidoux. Mrs. Castonguay was a lifelong resident of Fall River. She was homemaker and was a parishioner of Notre Dame Parish all her life, where she was a member of its Ladies of St. Anne’s Sodality and choir.
She was the Mother of Paulette Cerutti of Springfield, VA Mariette P. Castonguay of East Greenwich, RI Suzanne Coriaty of Fall River, MA and Louise Castonguay of East Greenwich, RI; Normand L. Castonguay of Manchester, NH and Pierre A. Castonguay of Riverside, RI; Sister of Raymond Robidoux of Pensacola, FL, Maurice Robidoux of Tiverton, RI and Grandmother of 10 ; and Aunt to several nieces and nephews. Evelyn (Correia) Rezendes, age 78 passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Highlander Nursing Facility in Fall River after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Edward P. Rezendes.
Born in New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Antone and Hortense Correia, Mother of Debra A. Couto and her husband Jeff of East Taunton and Edward J. Rezendes of Fall River, Sister of Antone Correia of Colorado, Bernie Correia of Munford, Alabama and Dolores Kennedy of No. Dartmouth Grandmother of Emily Couto, and Aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn had worked for many years, as an inspector in the golf ball division for the Titlelist Company She enjoyed Reading, crossword puzzles, long walks and dinning out with family and friends.

Helene (Lizotte) Jennings, age 83, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Kenneth J. Jennings.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Clara (Petrin) Lizotte. Mrs. Jennings was employed in the garment industry as a sewing machine operator for many years and then as a lunch lady at Talbot Middle School. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish. She enjoyed playing bingo and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son, Brian D. Jennings; two daughters, Doreen A. Quartochi & her husband Edward and Lynn M. Dolan & her husband Stephen, all of Fall River; two siblings, Norman J. Lizotte of Fl. and Lucille Foley of Fall River; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Arthur Lizotte, Claire Morin and Annette Belmore, and mother of the late Michael and Gerald Jennings

Pauline E. (Bolger) Drobyski, age 94, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Drobyski.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Shaw) Bolger. She was a B.M.C. Durfee High School Graduate, class of 1934. Mrs. Drobyski was employed as a floor lady in the garment industry for many years. She was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish, where until recently, she was very active with their Women’s Guild and a former recipient of the Marion Medal. She was an avid bingo player and Red Sox fan, who never missed a game on T.V.
Survivors include her son, Thomas J. Drobyski of Fall River; her two sisters, Dolores Michaud of Swansea and Dorothy McCann of Fall River; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late William, Jerry, John, Leonard, Edward and Phyllis Bolger, Irene Gazzaro and Margaret Gagnon. Pearl Y. (Lamarre) Crossley, age 89, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Southpointe Rehab & Skilled Care Center. She was the wife of the late George E. Crossley.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Ernest and Georgianna (Bergeron) Lamarre. Mrs. Crossley was employed as a sewing machine operator in the garment industry for many years before retiring. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading and crossword puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

M Maurice Milot, age 85, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Catholic Memorial Home.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Dr. J. Donat and Jeannette (Lemerise) Milot. He attended Prevost High School, and graduated from St. Joseph’s Seminary in Three Rivers, Canada with degrees in BS, BL and BA .He later continued his studies at Montreal University.
Mr. Milot was a teacher in the Fall River Public School System. He was an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a recipient of the Marion Medal. He was active with Catholic Action in Canada. He was a 4th degree Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #295. Mr. Milot was a member and past president of Club Richelieu, Massasoit Council, a member of the First Friday Club, Fall River Ski Club, Franco American Civic League, Boy Scouts of America and Campfire Girls. He was an instructor for the Red Cross & the YMCA, where he was also an instructor in Judo.
He is survived by a sister, Pauline M. Dufour of Fall River; a sister-in-law, Pauline Milot; six nephews, Dr. Donald Dufour, Paul, Jean, Marc, Rene and George Milot; two nieces, Claudette Forczyk and Michelle Milot; as well as several godchildren. He was also the brother of the late Dr. Robert Milot.

Iren Irene L. (Levesque) Pelletier, age 94, of Buffinton Street, Fall River, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of late Samuel Pelletier.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Jean Baptiste Levesque and Anna (Bernard) Levesque. Mrs. Pelletier worked several years for the former Kay Sportswear as a sewing machine operator before becoming a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Anne’s Parish for most of her life.
Mrs. Pelletier is survived by a son, Henry Pelletier and wife Linda of Hope, RI; loving aunt and friend of Antoinette Bouchard; one sister, Blanche Pelletier of Arizona; one granddaughter; five step grandchildren; fourteen step great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Leo E. Theroux, age 91, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Home. He was the husband of the late Alice L. (Cyr) Theroux.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Eugene and Alice (Lecuyer) Theroux. He was the father of Robert L. Theroux, Thomas J. Theroux and wife Sheila Whalen-Theroux, the late Nancy L. Theroux and the late Leonard P. Theroux,; brother of Armand Theroux, Blanche Caron, Alice Martel and the late Ida and Eugene Theroux, Jr.; grandfather of eight and great grandfather of twelve; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by Globe Mfg. for over 30 years as a machine operator. Leo loved gardening and was a “family first” great person who cherished life. He will be missed by many.

Jeanne A. (Samson) Nadeau, age 81, of Broadway, Fall River, MA, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was wife of the late Albert Nadeau.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Samson and Anita (Michaud) Samson. She was a lifelong resident of Fall River and was a parishioner of St. Anne’s Parish.
Mrs. Nadeau had worked as a machine operator at Louis Hand, a sales clerk at the former Globe Department Store and Sam’s Club in Seekonk. After retirement she was a volunteer at Charlton Memorial Hospital and she enjoyed shopping on QVC, sewing and crafts.
Mrs. Nadeau is survived her six children, Michael Nadeau of North Attleboro and Richard Nadeau of Weare, NH;, Janine Fontaine of Somerset, Ann Marie Nadeau of Middletown, RI, Lori Ann Lizotte of Somerset and Suzanne Nadeau of Fall River; a sister, Claire Desmarais of Pocasset, MA; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mirette Pare.

Joseph M. Krupa, Jr., age 75, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Hutchinson) Krupa and the late Mary E. (Lemerise) Krupa.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph M. Krupa, Sr. and Anna S. (Beleda) Krupa. He was employed by Edgars Department Store and R.A. McWhirr and then as a dispatcher at Fall River Gas Co. After retirement he worked for the Citizen’s Union Bank as a parking lot attendant for the main branch.
Mr. Krupa was a parishioner of Holy Name Church. He was a volunteer of Citizens for Citizens Headstart program as a foster grandparent.
Besides his wife he is, survived by a godchild, Sean McGovern; a brother, Thomas T. Krupa of Somerset, MA; a sister, Anna Kotlarski of Palmyra, PA; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late John V. Krupa. Mrs. Garrity worked as a machine operator at the former West Trax Electronics. She was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Church, and enjoyed playing bingo at Fox Woods.

Margaret Ellen “Peg” (Murphy) Rego, age 93, Tiverton, RI passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at home. She was the wife of the late Everett Francis Rego. She was born on July 7, 1918 in Fall River, daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Alyward) Murphy. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School. In 1942, Peg entered the US Navy and was trained in intelligence service, serving in Washington, DC, serving during World War II.
On September 9, 1946, she married her husband Everett, to whom she was married to for over 60 years. While married, she first lived in Fall River and Tiverton. Peg was employed by the Tiverton School Department’s Library for over 20 years and retired in 1985. She was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church since 1954 and was active with there Women’s Guild and also a member of the Newport Women’s Club. She enjoyed life and is remembered for her weekly lunches with the ladies.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of Mary H. Murphy of Tiverton, and the late John E. Murphy and Michael F. Murphy. Mary Frances (Guarniere) Quaglietta died peacefully at her home in Fall River November 11, 2011.She was 92.
Born July 6, 1919 in the Bedford Street section of Fall River to Lorenzo and Giovannina (Occhiuti) Guarniere ,Mary attended Durfee High School before going to work as a seamstress. She was employed for many years at Anderson Little in Fall River, from where she retired in 1984.
She was married to the late Albert Quaglietta. They lived in Johnston, Rhode Island for many years. Mary returned to Fall River in 2005 to help care for her sister, Carmela Medeiros, who died in 2009.Mary was also predeceased by her brother ,Vincent Guarniere, and sisters Eda Arruda and Rose King.
In the last years of her life she was loving cared for at home by niece Loren King and her partner Irene Cyr, and devoted caregivers Fernanda Cabral and Sisaltina do Rego.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.
She will be remembered for her passion for food, her authentic Italian cooking, her enjoyment of the Red Sox, her sewing skills, her devotion to her family and her sense of humor. Ever the joker, Mary laughed and made others laugh right up to her last days.
Mary’s funeral will be held on Tuesday November 15,2011 at 9:30 AM from the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway ,Fall River, MA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Theresa Church, Stafford Road, Tiverton. Kathleen M. (Nestor) Levesque, age 76, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of Raymond E. Levesque.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of Joseph and Rita (Roden) Nestor. Mrs. Levesque was employed as a Registered Nurse for St. Anne’s Hospital for 35 years, and she was the R.N. in charge of Medical Education for St. Anne’s and Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was an avid reader who enjoyed making quilts and sewing, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Besides her husband of 55 years, survivors include her three daughters, Anne Marie Gruneberg of Assonet, Karen Elizabeth Johnson of Portsmouth and Gail Anne Cabral of Swansea; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert Nestor and Patricia Delaney.

Gaston R. Plante, Sr., age 93, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center. He was the loving husband of Lucille B. (Boule) Plante. Mr. and Mrs. Plante celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 4, 2011
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Arthur A. and Yvonne (Lecomte) Plante. Mr. Plante was the former co-owner of Plante Jeweler’s with his brother Andre. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Mr. Plante was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. J. Boehr Council and the Tiverton Yacht Club; former member and past president of the Richelieu Club of Fall River; a Charter member and co-founder of the Fall River Exchange Club; a member of Montaup Country Club of Portsmouth, RI and Heritage Ridge CC of Hole Sound FL. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, Mr. Plante is survived by three children, Gaston R. Plante Jr. of Fall River, Mrs. Anthony (Pauline) Santoro of Swansea and Mrs. Robert (Therese) Higgins of Tiverton; a brother, Andre Plante of Fall River; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rita S. (Leveille) Desmarais age 87 of Fall River passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River. She was the beloved wife of the late Bertrand Desmarais to whom she had been married for 52 years.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late William and Marianne (Bergeron) Leveille, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River and attended Jesus Mary Academy. She was employed for many years at Center Garment. She was most recently a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, and prior to that was active for over 40 years at St. Mathieu's Church. An enthusiastic bingo player, who also traveled extensively, she was a member of the North End Senior Center, Royal Travelers, Les Dames de St. Anne, and the Jolly Club. She was also former president of the St. Mathieu's Women Guild and the Carroll School PTA.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane D. Souza and her husband Paul W. Souza of Glastonbury, CT., a son, Robert B. Desmarais and his companion, Geraldine Santos of Somerset, loving grandchildren Robert B. Desmarais, Jr., Perry W. Souza, Blake J. Souza and Rachel H. Desmarais, precious great grandchildren Kelsey and Logan Desmarais, and sister, Helen Boulay of Acushnet.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late George and Alice (Briand) Bisson. Mr. Bisson lived most of his life in Connecticut but spent the last two years near his son in Warwick, RI. He was employed as a truck driver all of his life.
He is survived by his son, Rene LaVoie & his wife Sandra of Warwick; his daughter, Catherine Bisson & her husband Dr. James Walden of CT; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie “Libby” Walden; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also has seventeen brothers and sisters.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late James L. and Bernadette E. (Cote) Bergevin. Mrs. Vandenburgh was a retired school cafeteria worker at the former Small School and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Stephen Wayne Vezina, age 57, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was the husband of Nancy (Carroll) Vezina.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Albert R. and Vivian (Deschenes) Vezina. He was formerly employed as a knitting technician for Northeast Knitting. He was a member of the Corky Row Club, an avid Patriot’s fan, he volunteered at We Love Children and enjoyed playing softball for various teams in Fall River.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Beth A. Vezina of Fall River; two sisters, Donna Millerick and Lisa Bouchard both of Fall River; several nieces and nephews including Matthew Simard; as well as his many friends, including Bob Holt, Jared Santos and Kenny Pereira. She is survived by two sons, Ronald Barboza of Ocala, Florida, and Michael Barboza and wife Evelyn, of Tiverton RI, two grandchildren, Craig Barboza and Crystal Moore, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Walter Bielawski, age 85 of Fall River, passed away at home Saturday October 1, 2011. He was the husband of the late Mary (Hamara) Bielawski.
Mr. Bielawski was born in Poland. He was employed by the Fall River Gas Company for over 30 years, before retiring. He was an avid boxing fan and enjoyed trips to the casino.
He is survived by a son Richard Bielawski and his wife Ann of Fall River; four grandchildren, Frederick Bielawski, Kristen Cherwinski, Richard Bielawski and Robert Bielawski; four great grandchildren, Ava Bielawski ,Christian Bielawski, Isabelle Bielawski and Gabriella Cherwinski , and relatives in Poland as well. He was also the father of the late Ted Bielawski and Frederick Bielawski.

Patricia A. (Mello) Cabral, age 63, of Fall River, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Raymond M. Cabral.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of James R. and Alice (Ferreira) Mello. Mrs. Cabral worked as a machine operator in the garment industry and loved to crochet, plastic canvas and puzzles.
Besides her husband of 38 years, she is survived by her sister, Lorraine Roberts & her husband Jimmy of Fall River; her nephew, Jimmy Roberts and her niece, Kerri Roberts.

Archie H. Toupin, age 93, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Yvette (Charette) Toupin.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Oscar J. and Ledea (Bacon) Toupin. He was employed as a knot tier for Berkshire Hathaway and then as a machine operator for RICO Machine Co. of Bristol, RI until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Toupin enjoyed working in the yard and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his beloved wife of 64 years, he is survived by a daughter Maureen Carreiro & husband Jack of Swansea; three grandchildren, Jason, Brian and Rebecca Carreiro; four great grandchildren, Dominik, Elizabeth, Noah and Nathan; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Oscar, Roland, Ernest, Romeo, Antonio and Ledea Toupin and Rita Berard.

Everett R. “Skip” Costa, Jr., age 42, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the former husband of Michelle (Lavigne) O’Brien.
Born in Fall River, MA, the son of the late Everett R., Sr. and Mary (McCaffrey) Costa. He was employed as a pipe fitter for Union Local 51, a member of the Liberal Club and he enjoyed motorcycles.
Everett is survived by his companion, Lisa Cyr of Fall River; his children, Everett R. Costa, III of Fall River and Cole E. and Kayla M. Costa of Somerset; his sister, Karen M. Audet of Rochester, MA; as well as his nieces, Olivia and Emily Audet.

Lorraine A. (Desrosiers) Kennedy, age 77, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at St. Anne’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late James P. Kennedy.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Marie Rose “Julienne” (Lavoie) Desrosiers. She worked as a cloth inspector for Berkshire Hathaway and also worked for United Merchants.
Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her daughter, Colleen Ann Mulligan & her husband Stephen of Swansea; her two sons, James R. Kennedy & his wife Janet and Kevin J. Kennedy & his wife Jodi all of Fall River; her grandchildren, Jake & Amelia Bissaro and Caleb Kennedy; her sisters, Diane Renaud of Attleboro, Claire Guy of Fall River and Aline Coite of Assonet; and her brother, Robert E. Desrosiers of Middleboro; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late John V. Arruda, Sr. and Irene Arruda and the fiancé of the late Eileen Miller. Mr. Arruda was employed as an Insurance Analyst for Comsearch Inc. and enjoyed football, corvettes and computers.
Survivors include a brother Charles E. Arruda of Port Lucie, FL; a sister, Catherine S. Collins of Fall River; a niece, Jennifer Williams; a nephew, Jesse Arruda; two great nieces, Marissa DaCosta and Taylor Williams and a godfather, Daniel Viveiros, and also survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Rosario Odilon Fauteux, age 93, of New Bedford, formerly of Fall River, passed away on Monday, September, 19, 2011 at Somerset Ridge Center. He was the husband of Doris (Tremblay) Fauteux.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Romeo and Clara (Saucier) Fauteux. Mr. Fauteux served in the U.S. Army. He was also a 3rd Mate Navigational Officer in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was a loom fixer and later worked for Arkwright Finishing Co. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anne’s Church. He and his wife enjoyed ballroom dancing, their summer home and time spent with family.
Besides his wife of almost 65 years, he is survived by a son, Paul Fauteux and wife Hilda of Douglasville, GA; a daughter, Susan Fauteux and husband Ramiro da Fonseca of New Bedford; a sister, Blanche Dupre of Fall River; three granddaughters, Karrie Lynn Johnston, Jennifer and Kelly Fauteux and two great grandsons Christopher Patrick and Takai Correia. He was also a brother to the late Roland Fauteux, Anna Fauteux, Ida Pichette, Lillian Lyden, Alice Fauteux, Loretta Campbell , Jeanette Sullivan and Imelda Lecky.

Raymond T. Estrella, age 88, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Pelletier) Estrella.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Jesse and Mary E. (Johnson) Estrella. Mr. Estrella served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as Seamam First Class aboard the USS Franklin. He was employed as a machinist for Brown & Sharp for many years. He was an avid Red Sox fan, whose hobbies were gambling, fishing, boating, playing pool and traveling in his motor home with his wife and family.
He was the father of the late Patricia J. Fortes; brother of Jesse and Normand Estrella, Irene Amiot and Helen Bouchard; grandfather of Faye LeBlanc (husband Chris) and great grandfather of Alexis LeBlanc; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Albert J. Turgeon, age 82, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Bertha L. (Dupere) Turgeon.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Remie and Anna (Landry) Turgeon. Mr. Turgeon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by the City of Fall River Public Works Department for 22 years, retiring 17 years ago. He was a lifetime and charter member of Rhode Island Star Riders Motorcycle Club. Mr. Turgeon enjoyed hunting, woodworking and fixing things around the house, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by two children, Paul D. Turgeon and Barbara Haynes, both of Fall River; five grandchildren, Michelle N. Francoeur, Jennifer A. Turgeon, Paul A. Turgeon, Jeremy P. Haynes and Thomas R. Haynes and two great grandchildren, Kasey-Lyn J. Francoeur and Jonathan J. Francoeur.

Louis E. Perreault, age 97, formerly of Kellogg Street, Fall River, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 in the Catholic Memorial Home where he resided since April. He was the loving widower of the late Lillian B. (Gagnon) Perreault. Born in Fall River, May 29, 1914 to the late Ferdinand Perreault and Felicite (Normanda) Perreault. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Victor, Simeon, Albert, Alexander Perreault, Lumina (Perreault) Lemerise and Bernadette (Perreault) Lambert.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Janice L. (Perreault) Heinig; nieces, Marie Eva Chamberlain, Germaine Gariepy as well as several other nieces and nephews of his wife’s family. Louis was a devoted, caring, loving husband, father, and uncle. He was a living example of Christian Beatitudes always thinking of and helping others when needed. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Returning from the service he worked at the former Fall River Bleachery, owned a variety store for many years, and worked as a machinist at the former St. Regis and Scheldahl Plants in Rumford, RI. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a parishioner of St. Jean Baptiste Parish while living on Detroit Street and then from 1966 a parishioner of St. Anne Parish until present. Mr. Perreault’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 9:00AM from the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Anne’s Church, South Main Street, Fall River. Lorra Lorraine B. Richards, age 94, of South Main Street, Fall River, died early Friday morning September 2, 2011. She was the wife of the late Roger G. Richards.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Hector and Bertha (Gariepy) Vezina. She resided most of her life in Fall River. She was the oldest surviving graduate of Dominican Academy class of 1934. Mrs. Richards worked as a bookkeeper for many years for Maplewood Yarn Mills, Jayet Mfg. and then U Mass Dartmouth Book Store till her retirement. She was a life long parishioner of St. Anne’s Church and devoted many years to the church and school where her children were educated. She was also a member of Les Dames du St. Anne.
Surviving are her three sons, Ronald G. and his wife Gail of Bluffton, S.C., Paul R. and his wife Sarah of Swansea, MA, and Daniel R. and his wife Krista of Alpharetta, GA; one daughter, Gisele Hastings and husband Michael of Spartansburg, S.C.; eleven grandchildren, Noel Richards, Renee Lopez, Sean Richards, Shannon Richards, Scott Richards, Taylor Richards, Ian Richards, Samantha Ramalho, Kyle Hastings, Keith Hastings and Lauren Hastings; three great granddaughters, Andrea Richards, Jordan Richards and Kylan Lopez; a sister, Rachel Toole; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Yvette Rousseau and Bernard “Curly” Vezina.

Betty Habib Strassner, age 63, of Fall River and formerly of Florida, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2011 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Larry Strassner.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of Shirley (Audette) Cote of Tiverton and the late James Habib. Step daughter of George Cote of Tiverton. Elizabeth was employed by Globe Manufacturing as a machine operator, she was a member of Ladies Auxiliary in Florida and was a collector of Betty Boop.
Besides her parents, survivors include three children, Lynn Souza of Little Compton, Ronald Thibault of Fall River, and Kimberly (Thibault) Botelho of Fall River; two brothers, Paul Habib of Florida and George Cote, Jr. of Kentucky; a sister, Monique (Cote) Spofford of Somerset; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Hailie Lynn Thibault.

A parishioner of St. Louis de France Parish, he was an avid fisherman who enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting and working on his cars, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Boucher is survived by two sons, Jeffrey and his wife Ruth of Cromwell, CT and Peter Blair of Swansea, MA; two sisters, Patricia A. Boucher of Swansea and Rosemary E. Souza of Fall River; two brothers, Michael W. Boucher of Plainfield, CT and Robert “Bob” F. Boucher of Fall River; one grandchild, Blaise; as well as several nieces and nephews and his companion Irene Bernier.

Richard G. Beaulieu, age 78, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Jeanne A. (Morin) Beaulieu.
Born in Fall River, and a former resident of Tiverton, he was the son of the late Ovila and Adele (Nolet) Beaulieu. He served in the Air Force as a Military Police Officer from 1952-1956. Richard was employed with Coffee Sam for 18 years and with Westerbeke in Avon, MA.
He was the father of Susan Vachon of Somerset, Robert Beaulieu of Orlando, FL, Debra Tessier of Fall River and Donna Castro of Swansea; grandfather of Andrew, Chelsea and Karen Vachon; Logan and Dakota Tessier.

Justine Ann (Quartochi) Tep, age 26, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Milton Hospital, Milton, MA. She was the wife of Bunarith Tep.
Born in Fall River, daughter of Edward and Doreen (Jennings) Quartochi and granddaughter of Helene Jennings. Justine was a fulltime student at BCC, she also was a fulltime Certified Dental Assistant at Health First. Justine touched the hearts of all that knew her. She enjoyed gardening, listening to country music and loved Hello Kitty.
She leaves her sister, Samantha Quartochi; the loves of her life, her niece, Keyona; and her three nephews, Jakeam, Sintra and Dillon; and her beloved cats, Jay Jay and Mr. Man.

Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Arthur and Telly (Samson) Asselin. She was a parishioner of St. Louis de France Parish and a member of its Ladies of St. Anne’s Sodality. Mrs. Plamondon would have celebrated her 91st birthday on August 20, and her 67th wedding anniversary on August 28.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Paul Plamondon of Swansea; a sister, Theresa Hamel of Fall River; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Albertine (Simoneau) Ferland. Mrs. Boulanger was a seamstress for many years working in the Garment industry. She was a member of ILGWU, an avid bingo player and enjoyed word search puzzles and cooking.
She is survived by six sons, Reggie DeCotret and wife Connie of St. Petersburg, FL, John DeCotret and wife Margaret of Tampa, FL, Moe DeCotret and wife Pamela of Dania Beach, FL, Norman DeCotret and wife Patricia of Burlington, MA, Gilles DeCotret and partner Michael, and Jaques DeCotret of Fall River, MA and 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Born in Fall River a daughter of the late Aime and Louise (Courtemanche) Goyette. Diane was a child care provider for many years.
Diane was survived by six children, Suzanne Courchaine and companion Rob, Michelle Courchaine of Fall River, Adam Courchaine and wife Dara of Plainville, Matthew Courchaine and companion Kerri of Michigan. Andrew Courchaine and wife Abbey of Fall River, and Thomas Courchaine and wife Ivy of So. Korea, and eight grandchildren, three sisters Pauline Chouinard of Westport, Suzie Marie Patton of Florida, and Claire Rheaume of Tiverton, RI, and brother Aime Goyette of Florida and twenty nieces and nephews. She was the former wife of Armand Courchaine. She also was the sister of the late Madeleine Leary and Jeanne Belanger.

Edythe C. (Camara) Britland, age 93, passed away at home on Sunday July 3, 2011. She was the wife of the late Thomas Britland Jr.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. Camara and Laura E. (Moniz) Camara .Mrs Britland lived in Fall River all of her life. A 1935 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and later of Bryant College. She was employed, by the Division of Employment Security for 40 years.
Survivors are two cousins Stephen and Richard Rodrigues, friends and caregivers. She was also the sister of the late Edward Camara and Eunice Camara. Lorraine R. (Dufresne) Patten, age 92 of Fall River, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011at Charlton Memorial Hospital, she was the wife of the late Clement P. Patten.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Prosper Dufresne and Mary Louise (Berube) Dufresne. She was a sample maker and a floor lady in the garment industry. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods and watching the Boston Red Sox. She was a parishioner of Notre Dame Church.
She is survived by a daughter Patricia Bell of Fall River, two brothers Norman and Robert Dufresne of Fall River, a sister Vivian Jasmin of Fall River, two grandchildren Audrey Bell, Kathleen Bell – Harney, one great grandchild Jackson B Harney, and several nieces and nephews. She also was the mother of the late Doris Dawson, and the sister of the late Antoinette Boissonneau, Betty Perry, and Gertrude Arel.

Gerald ”Jerry” H. Phenix, 83, of Fall River, passed away June 30, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Theresa (Coulombe) Phenix for 63 years.
Born in Fall River, son of the late, Horace and Concorde (Cardin) Phenix, He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was the master electrician for Laflamme Brothers Inc and later for the Fall River Housing Authority until retirement. Gerald was an avid fisherman and loved his family.

Norman T. Gamache Jr. age 74, of Westport, MA passes away in Stamford, CT, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident Thursday 23, 2011. He was the husband of Claire(Cressey) Gamache.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Norman T. Gamache Sr. and Cecile A. (Fecteau) Gamache. He lived in Westport most of his life. He served in the National Guards for 15 years. A self employed truck driver for many years, later working for Danis Trucking until retirement. After retirement he was presently a chauffer for Austin Limousine Service. Norman was a member of Notre Dame Parish. He enjoyed family, and fishing and driving on long trips and especially spending time with his dog Brandy.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 40 years include two daughters Beverly Mann of Antonio,TX and Brenda Amorin of Fall River, two sisters Pauline Milot of Tiverton and Louise Gendron of Westport, MA, four grandsons Jeffrey J. Jaime Jr. Joseph, Timothy and Jonathan Amorin, one great grand daughter Arianna Amorin and several nieces and nephews.

Arthur F. St. Laurent, age 61, of Tiverton, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA. He was the husband of Lorraine (Osborne) St. Laurent.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Arthur E. and Alfreda H. (Jerzynska) St. Laurent. He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1967. Mr. St. Laurent served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal. He was an avid Radio Control Airplane Flyer. Mr. St. Laurent was employed as a tool repairman for Home Depot before retiring in May of 2010. He was a parishioner at St. Madeline’s Church in Tiverton.
Besides his wife of 38 years, he is survived by a daughter, Jaclyn A. St. Laurent of Tiverton and two sisters, Beverly A. Abegg and her husband Gerald of Westford, MA and Doris J. Buck and her husband Michael of Ft. Myers, FL. As well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Salgado was employed as a grade teacher in Portugal and co-owner of Braz Pharmacy with her late husband, Henry. She enjoyed reading, art and painting. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Eva Marie (Morin) Joannes. She was the Department Head of Admissions at St. Anne’s Hospital for 34 years, which she was very dedicated to her position and retired at the age of 70. She was a parishioner of St. Anne’s Church. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and polka dancing.
She is survived by five children, Patricia A. Boucher of Swansea, Henri A. “Pete” Boucher of Swansea, Rosemary E. Souza of Fall River, Michael W. Boucher of Plainfield, CT and Robert F. John V. Arruda, Sr., age 88, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Irene (Arruda) Arruda.
Born in Swansea, MA, a son of the late Edmund V. and Maria Arruda. Mr. Arruda served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the Purple Heart. He was the owner and operator of JVA Trucking Co. for many years.
Mr. Arruda was an accomplished musician and keyboard player. He was one of the best bass players in New England and a member of the Eldorado Band.
Survivors include three children, Catherine Collins of Fall River, John V. Arruda, Jr. of Fall River and Charles V. Arruda of Port St. Lucie, FL; a brother Charles January of Swansea; a sister, Lucy Munz of CA; two grandchildren, Jennifer Williams and Jesse Arruda; two great grandchildren, Marissa DaCosta and Taylor Williams; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Gilbert and Edward Arruda and Eva Almeida.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Delphis and Mary (Pascoal) Rioux. She was a B.M.C. Durfee High School graduate, class of 1948, and on their reunion committee. Mrs. Archambault was a homemaker most of her life and a parishioner of Holy Ghost Church, Tiverton.
She is survived by four daughters, Pamela Lafond and her husband Gerald of Uxbridge, MA, Andrea Raymond-Machado and her husband David of Tiverton, Wendy Sleeper and her husband Jerry of Sturgis, SD and Bonnie Cabral of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, Renee (Lafond) Gagnon, Denise (Lafond) Walters, Eric and Kyle Raymond, and Rhea and Trevor Cabral; five great grandchildren and one on the way. She was the sister of the late Eileen Rego and Doris King.

Edmund Pontes, age 74, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Muriel (Thibault) Pontes.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Travers) Pontes. He was employed as a maintenance man for Globe Manufacturing for 34 years. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset. He was an avid bowler, who belonged to several leagues, enjoyed bird watching and was an avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox.
Besides his wife of 51 years, he is survived by a son, Brian E. Pontes of New Bedford; a daughter, Lisa M. Pontes of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward, Wilfred and William Pontes.

Born in Fall River, the son of the late Albert and Marion (Gagnon) Ringuette. Mr. Ringuette served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was employed by the Fall River Public Works Dept and as a maintenance man for the former Hussey Hospital and the Newport Naval Hospital.
Besides his wife he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roger and Normand Ringuette, Lorraine Carter and Rita Duquette

She had three grandchildren, Kristen Bartels, Ryan Bartels and his fiancé Stacy Bruce and Sarah (Pruneau) Dumke and her husband Jason, as well as two great grandchildren, Thomas Dumke and Emma Bartels.

Eric Randal Moller, age 29, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Jennifer Marie (Curtis) Moller.
Born in Brockton, MA, a son of Randal Eric and Lisa Ann (Robinson) Moller. He was self employed as a tile installer. Eric enjoyed computers, listening to music. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time and playing video games with his children.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his two children, Travis John and Haley Elizabeth Moller; his mother-in-law, Annemarie Curtis; two brothers, Michael John Moller and his companion Tracy Mello and Richard Anthony Moller and his companion Jenna Carreiro, all of Fall River; his grandmother, Marjorie I Moller of Avon, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Raymond Paul Simard, Sr., age 80, of Tiverton, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Newport Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Lucie M. (Provencal) Simard.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Edward F. and Blanche M. (Collard) Simard. Mr. Simard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a truck driver for the former Remy Moving Co., then for the former Old Colony Transportation and Consolidated Freightway, before his retirement.
Mr. Simard was a parishioner of St. Christopher’s Church in Tiverton. He was a member of Fr. Joseph Boehr Council – third and fourth degree, and a member of the former South End Athletic Club. He was also an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan.
Besides his wife of 44 years, he is survived by a son, Raymond Paul Simard, Jr. and his wife Donna of Florida; a sister, Lorraine B. Rousseau of Tiverton; a brother, Gerald A. Simard of Fall River and a granddaughter, Jennifer Simard of CT.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Claire Melanson.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter, Janet Barboza and her husband Kevin and their children Chelsea and Courtney Barboza of Fall River; six sisters, Elsie Charest of Naples,FL, Evelyn Hooper of Buffalo, NY, Beatrice Barcelou,Olive Estrella, and Vivian Cambra all of Fall River, Shirley Cambra of Westport, and Everett Caetano of Evans Mill, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph Caeton, Dorothy Souza, Dolores Souza, Lorraine Combs and Alice Dolan.

Olive Mae (Ellis) Gifford, age 100, of New Bedford, MA, formerly of Acushnet, MA, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at home. She was the wife of the late Daniel Moucher Gifford.
Mrs. Gifford was very fortunate to live in her own home for many years in Acushnet, before moving to Whaler’s Cove Assisted Living in New Bedford through the assistance of the Family Service Association Guardianship Program of Fall River. Mrs. Gifford was given wonderful care and love from the staff at Whaler’s Cove. She was cared for like a family member with an over abundance of love. She will be missed by all of her friends and caregivers. It is evident the value of love.

Arline A. (Horgan) Bouchard, age 66, of Tiverton, RI, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Donald N. Bouchard.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Shirley (Ibbotson) Horgan. Arline was a pharmacy tech at Rite Aid for over 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Michael, Mathew, Brittany, Paige, Ethan, Chelsea, Christopher, Benjamin, Logan and William.
She is also survived by two sons, John F. Bouchard and his wife Dawn and Donald N. Bouchard and his companion Ms. Tami Lemos, all of Tiverton; two daughters, Lisa A. Silva and her husband George of Tiverton and Sharon Hoskins and her husband Erik of MA, two sisters, Susan Chase of Little Compton and Donna Collins of Portsmouth and her brother David Horgan of Tiverton, along with three nephews.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Henry and Zepherina (Bousquet) Goddu. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Fall River Steam Co. She was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton and enjoyed knitting.
Besides her husband of 64 years, she is survived by a sister, Blanche Prevost of Swansea and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Ephraim Goddu and Jeanne Bourque.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Alphonse J. and Rosa (Noiseux) Laliberte. She was employed as a sewing machine operator for various shops in Fall River. She was a parishioner of St. Louis de France Church in Swansea and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts.
Besides her companion of 27 years, she is survived by two step-daughters, Jodi Gonsalves of Somerset and Shani Rebello and her husband Robert of Berkley, MA; four siblings, Doris Bourget of Fall River, Annette Mello of Fall River, Roger Laliberte and his wife Pauline of Swansea and Cecile Guimar and her husband Richard of Tiverton, RI; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Born in Fall River, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Antosz) Ganczarski. He was employed as a strapper/shipper for United Merchants for many years. He was a parishioner of SS. Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church, where he was a collector at mass. Mr. Ganczarski enjoyed fishing and gardening, loved his polka music and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Besides wife of 64 years, he is survived by four children, Barbara Trenholme of Fall River, Louis Ganczarski and his wife Donna of Fall River, Janice Lynn and her fiancé Richard Sroczynski of Tiverton and Paul Ganczarski and his wife Melissa of Fall River; two brothers, Louis Ganczarski of Fall River and Thaddius Gancarski of Tiverton; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Ignatius “Chick”, John and Kasmir “Charlie” Gancarski.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Stanislaus and Mary (O’Rourke) Koziel. Mr. Koziel served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from United Airlines, where he worked as a mechanic for over 30 years.
Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a son, Stanley J. Koziel, Jr. of Taunton; a daughter, Michelle Choquet and her husband Joseph of Virginia and a grandson, Leonard Christian Souza of Fall River. He was the sister of the late Dorothy Medeiros.

Gertrude M. Thivierge, age 91, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late William J. Thivierge.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Vincent) Martel. She was the co-owner and secretary of the former Atlantic Dairy and then was employed by the Fall River Public School Department as a cafeteria worker for the lunch program. Mrs. Thivierge was a parishioner of St. Anne’s Church for many years, she enjoyed playing bingo and cards.
She is survived by two sons, James Thivierge and his wife Joanne of Fryburg, ME and Gerald Thivierge of Fall River; one daughter, Muriel B. Desrosiers and her husband Norman D. of Fall River; three grandchildren, Caroline, Michelle and James; three great grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany and Haley; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William and Louis Martel.

Hector E. Berard, age 88, formerly of Lake Avenue, Fall River, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. He was the husband of the late Emma (Dubois) Berard.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Ernest and Laura C. (Proulx) Berard. He served in the U.S. army during WW II, where he earned the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was employed as a carpenter for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 30 years. Before serving his country, he worked for the C.C.C.’s (Civilian Conservation Corp.) in Vermont, which was established in 1933.
Mr. Berard is survived by a son, Paul M. Berard of Fall River; two grandchildren, Cynthia A. and Adam P. Berard; a brother, Roger Berard of Fall River; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Normand Berard, Rita Desrosiers and Jeannette Berard.

Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late William and Anita (Castonguay) Foley. Therese was a homemaker and a parishioner of St Mary’s Cathedral and enjoyed making rosaries to comfort others.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Simeon M. and Marie Rose (LeClerc) Caouette. Mr. Caouette served in The U.S. Navy and Coast Guard during World War II. He worked as a frame tender for Pioneer for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, and was a collector of classic movies.
Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by three children, Nancy A. Botelho and her husband Kevin of Swansea, Marie Rose Ouellette and her husband Robert of Westport and Edward A Caouette of Fall River; a brother, Raymond Caouette of NY; a sister, Beatrice O’Brien of Fall River; grandchildren, Derek S. Ouellette, David Furtado, Stephen Botelho and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Arthur, Albert and Omer Caouette, Alice Marcella, Yvette Minor, Florence Desrosiers and Lillian Foley.

She was born on December 16, 1955 in Fall River, she attended SS Peter & Paul School, Mt. St. Mary’s Academy and was in the second graduating class of Bishop Gerard High School. She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Parish, where she was employed as a receptionist, volunteered at their school, served on the parish council, and also the School Advisory Council, Member-in-Charge of the parish weekly bingo, and a Eucharistic Minister for the Parish and also to the homebound. She was also a recipient of the Marion Medal.
She was the mother of Stephen A., Katherine H. and Peter E. Reney; granddaughter of the late Angela C.V. (Downs) Grace; niece of Sylvia A. (Grace) Belliveau; daughter-in-law of Rita B. (Monast) Reney and cousin of Vernon J., Neal T. and Jon W. Belliveau.

Born in Assonet, MA, daughter of the late George and Margaret (Frazier) Donnelly. Longtime clerk and cashier for Rite Aid Pharmacy, a Eucharistic Minister, she brought communion to the sick, a lector, a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish formerly St. Patrick Church and enjoyed doing fundraisers. She was a recipient of the Marian Medal on December 10, 1995, a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, and an advisor of the Youth Group for People of Peace. Mrs. Halbardier enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to New Hampshire and nights around the family fire.
Besides her husband, she is survived by five children, Michele Santos, wife of the late Manuel Santos, Paula Soares and husband James, Diane Vieira and husband James, Denise Shannon and husband Joseph and David Halbardier and his wife Colleen; a brother, George Donnelly, Jr.; five grandchildren, Greg, Jimmy, Kelly, Amanda and Brandon; three great grandchildren, Victoria, Brianna and Brayden, as well as several nieces and nephews.

John Lindo, age 83, of Swansea, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Dighton Nursing Center.
Mr. Lindo was the son of the late John C. and Frances (Harrison) Lindo. He served in the US Navy during World War II where he earned a Victory Medal and American Theatre Medal. He owned and operated Lindo Plumbing Service with his late son John for many years. Family Service Association was providing care to Mr. Lindo through it s Guardianship Program.
Survivors are his long time companion Mieko Crapo of Swansea, and Grandchildren Jeni Lee Pudas of Salem, and John W. Lindo of Swansea. Also the staff of the Dighton Nursing Center who provided wonderful care for Mr. Lindo.

Grace Ann (Raffa) O’Melia, age 94, passed away Tuesday, January, 25, 2011 at Hathaway Manor in New Bedford, MA. A native of New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Nunzio and Nunziatta (Ferrara) Raffa. Mrs. O’Melia lived in Fall River for 63 years with her husband, the late Thomas William O’Melia.
She loved playing the piano and organ, however, her greatest joy was her family, the wonderful times she had growing up in a large family, and raising her own children with her beloved husband.
She is survived by their children, Ann Fortier of Swansea, Eileen Gregg of Westport, Peter O’Melia of Tiverton and Kathleen Beaudoin of Fall River; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Anthony Raffa of East Providence, Attilio Raffa of New Bedford and John Raffa of Florida, three sisters, Matilda Catterall and Mary Caputo of New Bedford and Madeline Brillon of Fairhaven; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Thomas V. O’Melia, grandmother of the late Timothy Beaudoin and sister of the late Felix Raffa, Vincent Raffa, Giovanna Riccardi and Cecelia Cox.

James W. Marchand, age 89, of Somerset, formerly of South Easton, MA passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ann (Gilbane) Marchand.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Wilfred J. and Maude (McMahon) Marchand. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, class of 1940, and a graduate of Bradford Durfee Tech. Mr. Marchand served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and the Merchant Marines for many years. He was employed as a civil engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Works.
After his retirement, he operated J&A Realty with his wife in Easton, MA. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland, loved playing tennis, ballroom dancing and also competed in square dancing for many years. He was an avid New England sports fan, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Maryann Gregoire and her husband David J. of Somerset; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Gregoire, Jessica Gregoire, David Gregoire, Jr., and Scott Gregoire and his wife Dana.; one great grandson, David Gregoire; a sister, Claire Curtain of Easley, SC; three godchildren, James Curtain, Jr., Henry P. Marchand and Terry Vaughn; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Wilfred J. Marchand, Jr.

Couture and his wife Maria Angel, Marc Couture and his wife, Lisa, two daughters, Denise Cromwell and her husband Kevin, and Michelle Couture, one brother Ronald Couture, eight grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Albert Couture, Estella Desrosiers and Annette Couture.
Mr. Couture’s Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10:00AM in Notre Dame Church.

Janice L. (Gonsalves) DeForge, age 64, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was the wife of Paul O. DeForge.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Raymond H. Gonsalves and Lorraine (Rousseau) Parent, and the step-daughter of the late Philip J. Parent.
Besides her husband of forty three years, she is survived by two daughters, Wendy S. Ksen and her husband Todd and Tammy J. DeForge, all of Fall River; three grandsons, Cody M. and Bradyn A. Ksen and Cory J. Souza; a sister, Suzanne Lieder of Montauk, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Philippe J. Parent. Mrs. DeForge’s funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00AM from the BOULE FUNERAL HOME, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00PM in Notre Dame Church, Eastern Avenue, Fall River. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 11:00AM prior to Mass. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.

Rose H. Forczyk, age 93, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Crestwood Nursing Home, Warren, RI. She had been in a nursing home since September 2007.
Born in Fall River, where she lived most of her life, she was the eldest of five children, born to Martin and Sophie (Pruss) Forczyk. An accomplished and dedicated legal secretary, she worked for Attorney’s George L. Sisson and Joseph Callahan of Fall River. Rose also maintained a Real Estate business and an income tax preparation service.
She was devoted to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She leaves two brothers, Stanley H. Forczyk and Frederick J. Forczyk, both of Fall River. She was the sister of the late Edward M. Forczyk and Mary Zrebiec.
According to her wishes, her funeral service was private. Her funeral arrangements were entrusted with the BOULE FUNERAL HOME, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA, with burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity of the donor’s intentions.

Marie Rose (Bouffard) Jean, age 95, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late Patrick Jean.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Gaudias and Alvine (Ferland) Bouffard. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Germaine Bastille of Somerset, and many nieces and nephews. She was employed as a weaver in the King Philip Mill for many years, and later worked at Artcraft and the Marine Museum.
Mrs. Jeans’ funeral will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 9:30AM in the chapel at Catholic Memorial Home. Visitation will be held prior to mass, in the Catholic Memorial Home from 8:30AM to 9:30AM. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River, MA.
